Tnanks for a quick reply. However, I do have the original recovery cd and I
also made a copy of the original cd when I received my new computer several
years ago. I attempt to open the cd to try and copy the corrupted file but it
was unable to read either cd. I was able to find the file on another Windows
XP computer. Also I have never copied and replace a corrupted file before in
DOS and the computer does not have a floppy drive. Please advise. Thanks
If neither CD can be read, then there is a problem with the CD drive.
Or is there just a single file instead of a folder containing all of
the Windows XP installation files? This is the problem with not having
the full Windows installation cdrom...but this is not really your fault,
just the OEM being "minimalist".
Another solution is the one proposed by Detlev, in this thread. The
Microsoft version of ohci1394.sys file is packed into the file that
can be downloaded through Knowledge Base 904412. Does the computer
boot without Firewire being active? If so, then get that file...it is
self-extracting and will probably install the corrupted file.
