Error message at startup

For the last few days I have been getting the following popup message
when I boot up my WIn P home ed. pc.

"Windows Genuine Advantage Notification has encountered a problem and
needs to close"

The error signature shown is: App Name: wgatray.exe - Version
1.7.17.0 -
ModName licdll.dll

I believe this started after I downloaded and installed the most
recent Windows update in the middle of last week.

Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening and is there a fix?
I have a Compaq pc that came with Win XP home ed. installed when
purchased from Home Depot - so I know it is genuine..
