error installing Client for MS Networks

Jack

Having a problem with re-installing the Client for MS
Networks after uninstalling it. The error is "Could not
add the requested component. The error is: The style of
the INF is different than what was requested." Haven't
ran across this before, and cannot seem to find any
issues relating to it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jack,

From the error, I'd say setup is trying to access INF files that are too new
or too old. Perhaps you've recently copied files to %windir%\inf, or
restored from a backup? The INF file for the Client for MS networks is
"netmscli.inf", but other files may be affected as well. I would try a
Repair from your Win2000 CD..

I have tried the repair option with no success. I replaced
the "netmscli.inf" from "c:\infold\inf\ and I was able to
install the Client. I didn't know what the "inf" I was
looking for was. Thank you!
