Error in internal program - what to do?

Ran a virus scan yesterday. Came up empty though the
operating system behavior still left me suspicious. Then
after running a defrag I got a message that NAV has
encountered an "internal program error". It asked me to
uninstall and reinstall Norton Antivirus. I don't
understand - will the uninstall and reinstall relieve the
problem or is the problem something else. If so, how can
I find out what it is?
 
One possibility. This happened to me, recently, and the cause was that
XstreamLok LIcense Service was disabled. Apparently Norton installs this.

In my case reinstalling it worked fine.

I have Norton 2003 on a single-user PC.
