NAV 2003 -- Internal Program Error

Hello. In August 2003 I bought the download package of Norton
Anti-Virus 2003. About a year later, I renewed the virus definitions
subscription for another year. About a week ago, the program itself
stopped working, and said there was an internal program error. The
message that that I should uninstall and reinstall the program. I did
that, but the same internal error message came up again. I tried
contacting technical support, but Symantec said that it no longer
supports the 2003 version, and that I should upgrade (which is a crummy
response since it was Symantec's own product which ceased working
through no fault of my own) to NAV 2005. I don't really want to pay
$49.95 to buy the full 2005 package. When I looked at upgrading, you
had to have the product ID which I don't have becuase the product does
not work. What should I do? Is there anyway to remedy the internal
program error and/or find out what my product number is so that I can
upgrade and not have to pay the full cost? Frankly I think Symantec
should either tell me how to repair the problem or give me NAV 2005 for
free, but I doubt that will happen. Any assistance most appreciated.

Hi Mike,

I need a bit more information about this issue to figure out what happened.
What is the specific error message? OS and service pack info is also good,
as well as other software installed on your system. Did you perform any
specific tasks just before the error occurred? You probably have already
thought about all these things, but I want to be sure that we've covered all
the bases here. Thanks!
