error "cannot login domain unavailable

When I try to boot up my computer I get the message "cannot log you on now
because the domain is not available" It was working fine and then I shut it
down the other night and when I tried to turn it on in the morning that
message appeared. I read that a hotfix may fix it but when I tried to
download it I got another error message, "the website has encountered a
problem and cannot display the page now". I tried it a few times during the
day but it always said the same thing. I am running Winows XP Home Edition
SP2.

Please can someone HELP!

Hi ifuller,

Click Start then right-click MY Computer. Click Properties. Click on
Computer Name and check your settings in there. Make sure you are in the
correct Workgroup. And your Computer Name is correct, also. If you need to
fix it, you need to reboot after the fix.

Is this a Networked Computer, where you have now than once computer at
home? Are you talking about a Website? Is a Router involved?

In Safe Mode, use Explore and look in Documents and Settings for your
User ID files. Your User ID, may have become corrupted. Can you create a new
UserID using Users Account in Safe Mode. Give it Computer Rights or
Administrator Rights and restart the computer and attempt to login into the
new UserID. See if a new User ID works.

Don't do anything else, but post back with the results. Because if you
can login, there is a certain way to rescue My Documents Files and
sub-folders, without risking this new User ID becoming Corrupt.
