"Error 1402. Could not open key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Msxml2.DOMDocument.4.0\CLSID. Verify
that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact...." is the message I
get at the very end of trying to install CR v10. This is on my XP SP2 Home
PC. I run under Owner and have another unused account setup. I'm wondering
if this is caused by the installer mishandling the registry. I had an
earlier version (8) installed and running. I have since removed v8 via
Add/Remove. I've further run the MS Win Installer Cleanup utility to remove
Win Installer registry settings from my PC. I then ran the CR 10 setup to
supposedly get a new copy of Windows installer (all this on advice of CR tech
support). I also installed update KB885894, which fixes an unrelated issue
in WI on XPSP2. I copied the CR 10 software from the CD to disk and reran
the install from there with the same unsuccessful results.
I'm thinking the registry has leftovers from the prior install and the
installer is having trouble knowing what to do. The error message isn't
clear to me.
Anyone have ideas that might help.
Thanks and Happy New Year.
