Lori;
If your computer is under warranty, I would see what kind of free support
is available. Mine is a Gateway and they used to have pretty good support.
) There are no settings on the Dependencies tab, this just shows what has to
be running in order for DHCP Client to run. Dependency service or group failed
to start, would indicate to me that something DHCP Client depends on is NOT
starting. (i.e. your car's air conditioner will not run unless the engine is
started.)
Do you get a message before your machine shuts down by itself? "This
shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM"? When you look in the Event
Viewer, double click the Error, click on the For more information hyperlink,
see if you can get any more info. Your cable company should know what they are
doing. Here is some more info anyway.
)
The Dependencies for DHCP Client are:
AFD Networking Support Environment
NetBios over Tcpip
IPSEC driver
TCP/IP Protocal Driver
IPSEC Driver
I found several references to this doing a search. What does the Event
Viewer show? There should be some more information.
