error 0x800ccc80 when trying to send e-mail

No, just 1 e-mail source, (e-mail address removed) from Amenworld.com to Outlook
2007.

Thanks, John.

It's all gone a bit quiet, should i re-register this issue to get it back to
the top?

Or just resign my self to a rebuild?

Regards, John.

I was waiting to see if anyone else would chime in with any advice. A
rebuild or reinstall rarely solves a problem.

In going over this thread, I can't see where the version of Outlook was
mentioned. I'm curious as to whether or not you installed a newer version of
Outlook over top of an old one (without uninstalling the old version first)?

Kathleen, thanks for the response, a rebuild is a real pain to recover from
as well, you always forget some id or password.

The laptop is only 6 months old, I was working with with Amenworld e-mail
initially, then integrated that e-mail account into Windows Mail and then
upgraded to Outlook 2007 when I bought Office 2007 about 3 months ago, it was
working fine up until last Wednesday, not a glitch, absolutely perfectly.

I've tried a MS restore back to a previous point, prior to the 9th, but it
follows me around.

I get incoming mail ok, I just have to logon to Amenworld, raw account, to
ensure I send mail from (e-mail address removed).

Any other info needed just ask.

Are you a Microsoft person?

Regards, John.

No, Microsoft doesn't monitor the newsgroups at all. People who answer
questions here do so on a voluntary basis on their own time.

Reinstalling Outlook rarely solves any specific issue. The only thing I can
think of now is that your actual profile on the operating system is corrupt.
I would recommend creating a new profile and testing Outlook from that.

I have this same problem which started about 2 weeks ago and keeps recurring.
I can fix it two ways - one is by using same method as you using repair. The
other is to uncheck the requirement for SMTP in Tools/Account
Settings/Change/More Settings/Outgoing Server and uncheck the MY outgoing
server (SMTP) requires suthentication. So far neither is a permanent fix.

I tried changing the port to 587, but i now get:

(0x800CCC78) : 'Cannot send the message. Verfiy the e-mail address in your
account properties. The server responded: 550 5.0.0. relected - zen.dnsbl'

I am going to modify my earlier response. This 'zen.dnsbl' sounds like a
reference to the Spamhaus "Zen DNSBL" list:

http://www.spamhaus.org/zen/index.lasso

This list should only be applied to a gateway mail server (the one which
accepts mail transfer from other service Mail Transfer Agents). It has no
business being used on a message submission server. You need to check with
your provider; find out if you are actually using their message submission
server, and, if you are, why they are using a DNSBL on a message submission
server.

Kathleen, you are indeed a star, helping me in your own time. Still, what
goes around, comes around!

I received some MS updates this morning and the problem has disappeared,
just as quickly as it appeared, wow!

I keep on monitoring today, to ensure reliability.

Best wishes, John.

If any body out there is tracking this problem it has returned!

I tried running update from microsoft, but there were none available.

Do I need to re-post this referencing the original post?

Thanks, John.

Have you visited the actual Windows Update site rather than using Automatic
Updates? Automatic Updates which you run from your computer, only offers you
critical updates/hotfixes/patches, etc. Going to the Windows Update website
(http://www.windowsupdate.com) and check for all the updates that you may
not have.

Kathleen, welcome back, I tried the link, but I'm up to date apparently.

This problem is so frustrating......

Thanks for your continued assistance.

John.

Have you tried creating a new profile on the O/S for the PC/laptop and
creating an Outlook profile on it to see if that resolves the problem?
