Erase list from drop down menu

I posted this once before but there was some problem so forgive the second post.

I have used the search file and folder function under the start menu. Whenever I type the name of a file in to search for, the query is saved. For example is searched for "dog," the next time I use the search funtion and type "d" it will provide a drop down bar that will have "dog" and any other word starting with "d." How can I purge that list?
