Epson Ink Refills

At the moment I am running two Epson printers (photo 915 and photo 900).

The problem is when printing full a4 photos the cartridges don't last long
so I decided to get compatible cartridges, the first ones I got were fine,
the second lot wouldn't even get recognized in the printer.

So I decided to try refill inks, I bought jr inkjet refill bulk ink (5
colour, 1 black). When I refill the cartridges I spend most of the ink
running print head cleaning.

The question is, anyone out there successfully using compatible cartridges
or refill kits with the above printers(please mention the name). Where do I
buy ink that has been specifically made for these printers in the UK.

Any help would be appreciated.

Their ink is great.
Unfortunately, their admin staff are a bunch of clueless morons.

I think the web site you got your ink should have some information
about refilling. But in general,

1) Fill the ink slowly to avoid air bubble.

2) Let the cartridge set for around 12 hours to let all the air moves to
the top of cartridge.

3) Run few cleaning and you should be ok.

So, if you pump lot of air to the cartridge and trying to use it right
away when lot of air bubble inside the cartridge then of course it won't
work.

You should be sure to purge and clean the old cartridge before adding
a different brand of ink unless you're sure the inks are 100%
compatible. For example, some 3rd party inks (e.g. Lyson) are acidic
and will not blend properly with original Epson inks. So give the old
cartridges a thorough cleaning with a weak ammonia solution to get all
the old stuff out, since refill ink kits should be expected to work OK
without much fuss.
