emergency startup

I just bought a new laptop without floppy disk drive or
zip disk. On previous computers, when installing Windows,
I was prompted to create an emergency startup floppy (or
zip disk) during install. Not on this one. So, question:
is there some way in XP Home edition to create such an
emergency startup on a CD? Thanks

The Windows XP CD-ROM is bootable for all repair needs.
