Hi,

I encountered this problem with my Outlook 2007 running on Windows Vista
Business edition.
The email's status will automatically change to 'read' after 5 mins residing
in the Inbox, even before I click on the the mail.

Anybody that encountere the same problem can enlighten me on how to solve
this problem?

Thanks in advanced.
Cheers,
wisman

Are you viewing them in the Reading Pane? Click Tools>Options>Other>Reading
Pane and change the settings.

Hi Brian,

Before even click on the email for it to be able to preview the email at
reading pane.
After 5 mins, the email status automatically change to read.

After 5 mins, the email status automatically change to read.

Then you likely have some add-in that is interfacing with Outlook and
"reading" the messages. Do you sync with a handheld? Do you have a desktop
search engine? Do you scan incoming messages with an antivirus or -spam tool?
Try starting Outlook once in safe mode (hold Ctrl when you start it) and see
if the behavior changes.

We did integrate the Symantec Endpoint Protection to scan all the incoming
emails for viruses.
Is this the culprit that cause the status to change?

One way to find out: disintegrate the scanning. It's not needed anyway as
long as the on-access scanner is operational. With Symantec products, it's
usually necessary to uninstall the product and reinstall without the mail
scanning feature.
