Email sent out 100 times

Hi,

Yesterday I sent an email out to our unit lists, it was probably a little
over 1 mb in size. It was stuck in the outbox for over 5 hours, because I was
not at the office. Outlook sent the email to some people over 100 times. I am
very frustrated because this has happened before and I can not afford for it
to happen again. I try to be as cautious as possible when sending emails
making sure the files are not too large, but it is ridiculous that I can't
send larger attachments or emails through my outlook.

What can I do to make sure this does not happen again?
Why did this happen?
Why can't I send larger files through outlook?

Thanks so much for your help!

First remove any e-mail antivirus scanner you have, it is a waste of CPU
process time and interferes with the e-mail send and receive functions.
As to the size limit, you will need to take that up with the ISP that
you use.

Outlook has no limit on file size. That would be set by your employer or
your ISP at the mail server level.

As for the attachment being sent multiple times, if your antivirus is set to
actively scan incoming/outgoing emails then it's probably the reason so many
were sent. Since your real time scanner would catch any viruses it was
updated to detect, you don't need to scan emails. Disable your antivirus
integration with Outlook to see if this rectifies the problem but you may
find with some antivirus applications (such as Norton/Symantec) that you
will have to completely uninstall, including using a tool provided by them
which is available on their website, and then reinstall omitting the Outlook
integration.
