Email recipients not getting attachments

When I send emails from my Outlook 2003, many recipients complain of not
getting any attachments or the embedded JPG images. Others complain of
getting WINMAIL.DAT files instead. What do I have set wrong in Outlook 2003?

Thanks for the reply, but I have deliberately tried all three, RTF, HTML, and
Plain Text, same results: attachments or embedded graphics go missing in
action. My normal format is HTML with MS Word as the editor. Same message
sent from the web browser interface on my email account in HTML works like a
champ.

If you have a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook, disable this
integration and send the email again. Do they arrive properly now?

Thank you for the suggestion. I had not thought of that and will try it
immediately. I am using Nod 32 (on about 12 machines). I also am running a
couple other resident programs, but have been for years, nothing new. The
problem seems to have started when I had to replace my hard drive after a
severe electrical short (cooling fins on mother board in the laptop moved
sideways and severely burned everything) fried the electronics and I re-built
it from scratch, re-installing all the applications. I must have changed
something at that time that I am not aware of.

I have also run a whole battery of tests since my last post. I was wrong at
first. The problem is only with RTF or HTML messages I create or reply to. If
I create a plain text message or reply to a plain text message (or change an
HTML message reply to plain text), it seems to work fine - the attachment
sails on through.

Thanks again for sticking with me. I will report back.
