Editing VCR and Digital videos to write on DVD disc

Mary

I want to edit a video from both a digital camcorder and
a VCR tape. I have them copied to my hard drive.
I am using both Dazzle Video Creator 80 and Sony software
to capture my videos. They are both MPEG files.

I have an external DVD writer dvd 300e model. This
product and all of the above are new items.

The HP Arcsoft ShowBiz is what I use to edit the files.
PROBLEM: When I move video icons into the program it give
me a message "This file format is not supported"
The files are opened with RealPlayer or Windows Media
Audio/Video" Neither will open. .. I have been on
telephone with HP and they have gone thru all the trouble
shooting they know. My computer is Dell and I have spoke
with them. My computer is okay. PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU,
Mary

Mary,

Capture in DV-AVI format (I'm using the Dazzle Hollywood DV bridge for
converting analog video to digital and feed to my PC through a regular
IEEE1394 aka firewire port (you'll need lots of HDD space to capture in
DV-AVI format since it's (almost)noncompressed)) Edit in DV-AVI format and
export the edited movie in DV-AVI format to your HDD. Then convert to MPEG2.
I'm using TMPGEnc for this. When you have the MPEG2 files, then author (i.e.
the software where you create the meny) and burn. I'm using Sonic's MyDVD
for that. I'm sure there are other software out there for this.

Good luck
