Editing Pictures in ppt

I copy/paste a picture into Paint to modify it. Then I cut and paste
that picture back into powerpoint. From then on, when I double-click
the picture I can edit the picture with all the options Paint has
right from the Powerpoint slide. But if I just copy/paste the picture
right into Powerpoint and double click on the picture, it just brings
up the Format Picture dialog box, no Paint modifying options. What's
changing here???
