editing notes in PP

How do I edit notes in PP? I've been sent a PP presentation to proofread and
edit. I can put comments on the slides, but there doesn't seem to be any way
of editing and tracking changes in Notes.

Am I missing something obvious? (PP Office 2003)

I'm not sure whether PPT tracks changes in notes (and in any case, its revision
tracking is nowhere as sophisticated as Words). But to edit notes, choose
View, Normal or View, Notes Page. The notes text, if any, will be available
for editing.

thanks for the reply.

In Normal page view I can edit notes, but only in black font. No font colour
changes are available. Colour change is available in Notes Page (though
there's not a specific editing function), but the new coloured text shows up
only in black when switching back to Normal.

In such a sophisticated program a proper editing function, like in Word or
Acrobat, seems an extraordinary omission.

I don't know a way to show colors in the Notes pane, either. But use View -
Toolbars - Outline to display the Outline toolbar. Then click on the "A/A"
symbol on the right. This will allow you to format the notes text, all
formatting like other fonts, italic or underlined text is available, but no
colors. Maybe you could use one of those formats to distinguish the edited
text instead of color.

Kind regards,
Ute

Guessing what was in mind when it was written, I'd assume that they called them
"notes" because that was the only use envisioned for them. Originally there was no
notes pane, you had to do all your notes editing in notes view where you *can*
format them. The text visible under the slides in Normal view is a convenience, not
a full blown word processor.

It sounds as though you're using notes for something more complex than speaker
notes. I'm always curious about this kind of thing ... can you elaborate on your
usage and needs?
