Powerpoint hangs when editing saved HTML format

We have some training manual slides saved in HTML format with PP 2K. Some
of the HTML files no longer can be edited with PP 2K however PP 2003 can
edit them. Here is what happens.

Person opens html on the intranet in IE6.
They click the Edit in PP button.
PP Opens and starts to open the file.
Progress bar in PP goes 6 bars then hang for about a minute or two.
PP opens blank. Note with a blank page, just empty.

I have tried to just open PP 2K and browse to the folder with the HTML file
and open it from within PP, but I get the same result with it opening up to
6 bars on the progress bar, hanging, then opening blank without any error.

I can open the presentation fine with PP 2003.

Can you still save the HTML version as a complete presentation file using PPT
2003? Can PPT 2000 then edit that file? You could probably avoid a lot of
problems if you stick with editing the presentation in PowerPoint format and
then republish.

What Glenna said; and note that long-term, editing HTML presentations isn't
something you'll want to build into your workflow, as it's no longer fully
supported in 2007.
