PowerPoint 2003

I used the trial version of Office 2007 with my new computer. I wasn't
thrilled with PP when it came to macros. After the trial ended I used Open
Office.org (didn't solve the macros issue - I have "games" for my students to
play), but at least I could use Word and Excel type programs. I discovered I
had one more installation of Student & teacher 2003. I installed it. Word
and Excel run fine. PP opens fine as for a new file, but existing files do
not open in PP. They open in openoffice.org . If I try to save the PP as
2003 it says it's not supported and won't. Any suggestions?

Here's the box that pops up when I try to save the file as PowerPoint 97-2003
& 95 presentation ---You are saving Presentation 2.ppt in a format compatible
with PowerPoint 95 and later. Saving a file in this format will
remove any restriction on this document and may significantly increase the
size of the file. do you want to save the presentation in this format?

Did you uninstall the 2007 trial after it ended and before you installed
Office 2003? If not, uninstall 2003, the trial and activation assistant,
reboot, reinstall Office 2003, update it fully, install the compatibility
pack and then re-update the computer.

Office 2007 files use a different format than 97-2003 files and can be
significantly smaller in size. When you save as 97-2003 file type the size
will grow as the warning says.

You can't save as 97-2003 & 95 from 2003 SP3 or later versions and do not
need to in nearly every situation unless the recipient uses 95 which is
fairly unlikely. To save in a 97-2003 format either choose that from 2007 or
save a a PowerPoint Presentation *.ppt from 2003

Upon further investigation, I've learned that Office 2003 and Windows 7
aren't the best combination. The issue of not being able to open up PP files
saved on my Windows 7 computer can be circumvented by using the OPEN option
from file.
