PP-2003 Help-Important .ppt's won't open

Have been running Office 2000. Downloaded trial version of PP 2003. Created
3 or 4 pres. before it expired and then purchased the 2003 upgrade.
INSTALLED upgrade as a complete install without removing PP 2000. All of my
PP pres. will open in PP 2003 except the only 2 that are REALLY important!
One was created in the trial PP 2003(as were several others all of which WILL
open in PP 2003) and the other one created in PP 2000. I have tried opening
from My Docs and from the PP 2003 app. This is the message I get when they
don't open "PP can't read C:\ documents and settings\my docs\power
point\Seller Presentation.ppt." I tried removing pp 2003 and installed it
again using the option of removing 2000, but that didn't make any difference
so I did a system restore back to a time before I installed pp 2003 and
installed it again as I had originally done (not removing PP 2000) Both of
the presentations that won't open in pp 2003 will play in the 2003 viewer
that was a seperate download from MS. Also, both will open in PP 2000 but
needless to say the one that was created in PP 2003 does not run properly in
2000 because of 2003 animations that were used. This just doesn't make sense
to me!! Please help! Thanks . . . hope this is clear.

PP2003 was broken when they first released it. I guess new downloads of
the program are still broken. Fortunately, two service packs have been
released that take care of this problem (I'm not sure why they are not
included in new purchases-unless you bought it from a store that got it
the actual program a long time ago). All you need to do is open
PowerPoint, go to the Help menu, choose Check for Updates, and follow the
instructions to install the latest service pack (I believe it is now
SP2).

Thanks David . . . since I just purchased the software at Best Buy, I would
agree with you in that it should have been current, but all is well. The SP
did the trick. Thanks fopr you response. I always get the VERY BEST answers
from these posts. You are all terrific!
