Multipart question.

using 2000's msi builder built package using unc path to
server A....server A replaced with server B. moved all
files related to package from server A to server B.
recreated 'published' package on server B. yet when user
tries to install package the package is still referencing
server A (no longer exsists)...thinking something
is 'coded' within the msi that the package was build from
used ORCA editor to look for any reference to server A so
it could be changed to server B...no luck...so whats the
deal ? how do i change apps that were set for server A to
server B ? in the group policy for the software it points
to server B...yet install keeps complaining about server A
..

It's not the MSI file, it's the fact that Windows remembers where you installed
it from and sometimes needs to go back there. I think this article is what you
