E-mails received, but after being read, are still marked as unread

There are times that I receive e-mails, and after double clicking on them and
actually reading them, they remain in bold text as if they were NOT read.
Does anybody have any suggestions of how to resolve this problem - thanks!

Anthony .. follow instructions --

Open windows mail
At the top of windows mail screen click "TOOLS"
Then click "OPTIONS"
Then click "READ" tab
and click the box "mark message read after displaying for 60 seconds" .. ..
to activated ... you will now see a tick in the box...
Click "APPLY" & OK .. ...

I set the delay to 0 (zero) seconds.
