Maybe you have the 'Do not allow attachment to be saved or opened that could
potentially contain a virus' checked.
To check this setting:

Open Outlook Express
Click the TOOLS menu/OPTIONS
Click the SECURITY tab
Uncheck the checkbox that I mentioned above
Click the APPLY button
Click the OK button
Just to make sure, close Outlook Express & re-open it.
