White Box with the red X

received and e-mail and in the body of the e-mail there is an outline of
something that does not display.
In the upper left corner there is a small white box with a red x in it.
Am I missing some option for receiving the content to be displayed?

I found some old answers to something like this but it referred to servers.

Go to Tools, Options, Read, and make sure "Read all messages in plain text"
is unchecked.
Then go to the Security tab and select the Internet zone; also uncheck "Do not
allow attachments...", and uncheck "Block images..."

If all those settings were already correct, it is quite likely that the sender made
a mistake in the way he referenced a picture, or the picture resides on a
remote server which is temporarily not accessible.

Also in the notice to let me know someone answered neither of the links to
get me back to read the response worked.
Is this something you can report or is it something I have to report.
Thank You
