Little red x

I sometimes receive e-mails with a little red x where a link of some kind
should be. If I click on it, the link works, but I don't know why I see the
red x. Anybody know? I do have Windows Mail set up to view messages in html,
not plain text. I have Vista, too.

Thanx,
Chet

Check out the settings at Tools>options>security, block images and external
content?

Right, done that too. That box is not checked. I've jumped through all the
hoops I can find on this after reading previous posts on this matter, some of
them pretty old. I saw that the problem persisted for others, too, and was
wondering if there was some kind of new development that hadn't been made
common knowledge yet. Anything?

Besides the two obvious security setting for images and attachments,
you should also try selecting the Internet zone.
