E Mail connection

We have 4 computers networked. three have pre Vista operating systems and
use Outlook express for email att.net is the service provider. All is well
with the three. We just added an additional computer with the Vista and Win
Mail programs No email access. I have uninstalled the temporary Norton
Program components and downloaded & installed Avast! virus software as you
have suggested. I can access my email from the computers with outlook
express but not from the Win Mail application. The error reading is Your
POP3 server has not responded for 60 seconds error 0x800CCC19.

Att connection software is not loaded on this computer Does that matter?

I also cannot locate a way to disable the email virus scanning in the avast!
program. Any Suggestions on that or is it necessary in this instance?

Thanks

Make sure your mail account settings agree with this:

I recommend that you do not install the AT&T connection software
because it just adds another layer of overhead and obscures the
real error messages.

Since I don't use Avast I can't advise you how to disable its email
scanning. I'm sure someone else will be able to tell us.

I have the same problem with my new laptop vista, regarding my e-mail. I'm
not able to receive or send e-mail. Is there anything I need to do to make it
work?

There should be some error messages when you try to send or
receive. Copy those, and paste them into a reply here.
