I am used to Outlook Express 6 ... but setting up the server account
information seems to ne different for Windows Mail.
The little title window say`s POP3 then in the window just below it for my
pop3 mail address I have typed (e-mail address removed).
Also I have tried (e-mail address removed).
Also I have tried (e-mail address removed).
All three were refused.
I can`t figue out what`s wrong.
For the 2nd box I typed (e-mail address removed).
This is driving me to distraction.

1. Open your email client program.
2. Locate the email account settings for your particular client.
3. Change the POP server to pop.att.yahoo.com.
4. Change the SMTP server to smtp.att.yahoo.com.
5. Check the option labeled Use an encrypted connection (SSL).
* Change the SMTP port to 465.
6. Check the option labeled Use an encrypted connection (SSL).
* Change the POP3 port to 995.
7. Confirm the above settings before clicking OK.

I believe that you will have to set up a new email account through your
Internet provider. I had to contact my internet provider for them to give me
the outgoing server info and the incoming server info and also they had to
give me a password in order to set up my email through Windows. I hope this
was helpful

That is not at all surprising.

These are not valid server names. You can't just make up names.
This is driving me to distraction.

In reality, the setup is almost idential to Outlook Express.

The problem is that you are not entering valid server names. That
information comes from your ISP.

Get the server names from AT&T support, you are almost certainly typing them
incorrectly. They won't have an @ symbol, but instead be something like
this:
fpostoffice.isp.att.net
and
fmailhost.isp.att.net

Ports for these specific servers would respectively be 995 and 465, with SSL
checked.

These may not be your specific servers; your ISP can tell you in moments.
