Free Yahoo mail works; how can I turn off Windows mail?

I like my free Yahoo mail account fine. I saw a few threads where Gary said
that Windows Mail does not support free Yahoo mail. How do I turn off Windows
mail so that I can use Yahoo? Right now, I can't send an outgoing mail that I
started by clicking on the intended recipient's email address on a college
website because Windows Mail has "grabbed" the e-mail.

I have att dsl as ISP and prefer not to set up att.net as my preferred
e-mail address.

Thank you.

Install the latest version of Yahoo Toolbar and enable the "Make Yahoo Mail
my default" option.

Thanks, Dave.

It dawned on me to try Yahoo help rather than Windows Mail help. I assume
your link goes to the same or similar place I went. For anybody else having
this problem, Yahoo had me download their latest toolbar, which somehow added
Yahoo mail as a choice for my default e-mail program. I did that, clicked on
the e-mail address I was trying to send to, copied the message over to Yahoo
mail, then sent. It appears to have worked.

thanks again.

[I believe there's an echo in here again!]

If your Yahoo email address is associated with your AT&T DSL account,
it is not considered to be a 'free' account but a 'partnered' account.
Partnered Yahoo accounts do have POP access, so they can be set up
in Windows Mail. However, it sounds like you prefer webmail, so this is
a moot point. :)
