DVD- RW vs CD-RW

Ralph

Hello,

My new computer came with dual DVD Drives, so I bought blank DVD media
to burn audio CD's into. However it is not working. Do I have to get
blank CD-RW to burn my audio CD's via the dual drive?. I was told by
getting dual drives I could bypass loading into the music my hard drive
to burn CD's.

Thanks
Ralph

First determine if your drives are read only or capable of writing. If your
drives are read only then you can't burn anything.
If your drive is writable, then which is it, e.g. DVD r or rw, CD r/rw.
Sometimes a drive can be DVD read and CD write.

After you have answered these question then you can purchase (if drive is
writable) the appropriate media.

I have found that music is best burnt to a CD and not DVD.

You can rip and burn from the same DVD/CD drive without saving to HDD
first - it uses a temporary folder, though.
Just read your new computer manual and see which drive writes to media.
Moreover, select the correct DVD_RWs: + or -, speed etc. The manufacturer of
the driver/PC should have a website with a list of compatible media.
