When I burn Audio CD-R discs all is fine, but when I burn Audio CD-RW discs
the files always have the properties of being only 44 bytes and will not
play with windows media player, but will play with Realplayer, but will not
play in a CD player.

Do not use CD-RWs for music files, they will not play in your car or
many home CD players. Use CD-Rs for music files and CD-RWs for
storage of photos, documents and personal files. You can format a
CD-RW with Nero or Roxio called packet writing and you can use the
disks as small drives similar to your harddrive where you can add,
delete and change files.
Note: Once you burn a CD-R you cannot change or delete files, period.

Many thanks, amazingly enough, the car CD player was one that did play the
CD-RW disc, after I burnt it at only 8X speed!
