DVD Playback problems........

Installed DVD-ROM on kids machines---XP Pro, 2GHZ P4, 256M RAM
Can play "normal" DVD's fine in almost all instances.
DVD's recorded on set top DVD recorder will only play first 5-6 chapters and
then skips all the way to end of disc??? Have used InterVideo WINDVD software
as well as Windows Media Player10. Get the same problem on my Dell Latitude
notebook. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

You get the same result on the notebook? - I would be calling the
manufacturer of the set top DVD recorder .

I'm assuming the recorded DVD plays fine on the set top recorder.........
