dvd drive

I have a dell dim. 4500 with two hard drives and one dvd player (samsung) and
one dvd writer (plextor). My dvd player will not work anymore (use to) and
the device manager says it is working properly. I checked the jumper settings
and the plextor is master and samsung is slave. Any suggestions?

what does "will not work anymore" mean? Please be a little more "verbose"...

I put a disk in but when i click on the icon for the drive it tells to to
insert disk. basicly it is not reading any disk i put in even though disk
manager says it is working properly.

I'd also try reversing the master/slave relationship and check the
manufacturer websites for Drive BIOS updates - yes, these drives can
sometimes be updated.
