I am running a Win XP Pro system with a Plextor DVD burner 708A and a
Samsung DVD ROM on the same IDE channel, the burner is the master and the
ROM is the slave. I am having burning issues and realize the DMA setting is
on for the burner and off for the DVD ROM. I want to set the DMA to "on"
for the DVD ROM, but I don't have the advanced settings tab on the IDE
properties tab in device manager. I have another system with a Pioneer
burner and Pacific Digital DVD ROM that has said advanced settings tab and
both drives have DMA on, and no burning issues. I read somewhere that DMA
should be on for all DVD drives to avoid burning issues. How can I get the
setting tab back. I recently reformatted the drive and still have no tab
setting. I replaced the Plextor drive with the Pioneer drive as a test to
see if it was the Plextor, but with the Pioneer drive in place there still
was no advanced setting tab.
