Autoplay does not work

E

Ed Wood

I am running Windows XP Pro SP3 on a Desktop with a 2.1gb dual core
processor. I have two DVD burner drives. a Plextor PX712UP and a HP DVD Dual
Layer Writer DVD 840d. I am also have installed Powertoy's Tweak UI. Both
drives are set to Autoplay in XP's My Computer under the selected drive, and
in Tweak UI.

However, neither drive will auto start any disk placed in the drive(s). Not
Audio Cd, DVD, or Program disk for installation of product.

Does anyone have any suggestion what could be blocking the Autoplay feature?

Thanks,

J

Ed take a look at this link from my website:
http://vistasupport.mvps.org/autorun_autoplay_don't_work_when_cddvd_is_inserted.htm

Yes this does refer to Windows Vista, but the same procedure should work or
XP too.

John,

I think I had read your suggestion in another post and tried that. It did
not work for me. Like you, I don't have Roxio on my system. I use Nero 8 as
my software of choice. However, my BlackBerry software automatically
installed Roxio's Blackberry media creator (which failed to initialize) on my
computer, so I searched for Roxio and deleted all traces of it that I could
find. Still no autoplay.

Maybe someone else will have a solution.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the response. The autofix did the trick. It found that some local
settings were wrong, and fixed them. Both drives autorun now.

Have a great day.
Ed
