DSL sign in hang

Mr Wood

Windows XP boots up and runs great. I click on the SBC
PPPOE log in icon. It connects to the internet through
an Acatel 1000 adsl modem. At this point the system
hangs for about 5 minutes. If you click on start or task
manager or IE, you also have to wait. After about 5
minutes, everything you have clicked on pops up and the
computer runs fine again. The dsl speed is great and can
brouse the web and emil fine. This also happens when
switching users. The process starts all over again. Any
ideas?

No addional software. Just XP's new connection in
network, sign on with user name and password, and thats
it. I have done this on several computers (none with an
Acatel 1000 DSL modem) and never had a problem.

Thanks for your speedy reply

user that I setup and never had an issue like that, have you tried
removing the setup process and start-over again and do you
get the same results
