DSL modem and ADSL modem what's the difference? or a DSL/ADSL Connection?
I might get SBC/ATT high speed internet since it's available on my area.
Would like to find out how easy to make the transition from dial-up to
DSL/ADSL with home network?
DSL is a system for carrying Internet service over the phone lines, between the
CO and your home / office. ADSL is Asymmetrical DSL, which refers to the fact
that your service is setup to provide x amount of bandwidth from the Internet to
you, and y amount of bandwidth from you to the Internet, and specified as "x /
y", for instance "1.5M (down) / 256K (up)".
Ho is your dialup setup? Many people have dialup modems in their computers.
DSL frequently delivers service thru a DSL modem, into Ethernet. You then use a
NAT router (my extreme recommendation) to connect all of your computers, and
share the service.

If you were lucky enough to start out with a dialup modem shared thru a NAT
router (again, my personal extreme recommendation), that router should be usable
to connect between the DSL modem and the computers.

Dialup NAT routers generally are designed for sharing broadband (DSL or cable),
and have dialup functionality as a backup to the broadband. With a NAT router,
you can switch between dialup and DSL transparently, even automatically.
If you have Internet service thru dialup modems in your computers, you'll have
to do a bit of work. But it's all worth it.
