drop down menu slow to respond when searching for a file to inse.

when sending an email if it involves an attachment the initial drop down menu
to browse for the file or photo takes up to a minute to respond. after that i
can navigate quickly. using Outlook 2003
 
Look in My Computer to see if any mapped drives are unavailable. If yes, either unmap them or connect them.
