Tonight when I tried to attach a file to an email Outlook stops responding as
soon as I double click the folder I want to open. Then when I opened
Internet Explorer and tried to use the drop down option in the address bar,
Explorer stopped responding as well. Can anyone help me out with a solution?

I have Outlook 2003, part of MSO Standard Edition for Students and Teachers
and I am running Windows XP Service Pack 2.

In addition to my earlier statements, I have now noticed that I cannot open
a file with any Office application. As soon as I double click on a folder in
the Open File dialog box the app freezes. I am able to launch the files from
explorer and I have been able to send file attachments with an internet email
program, but something is definitely wrong with office.

Everything worked fine last night and no one used the computer today, but
while shutting down last night I noticed some Windows updates were loading.
I tried to run a system restore and realized that I had shut that down last
week temporarily and neglected to turn the option back on.

Thanks so much for the help, I really appreciate it. I had actually paniced
a little bit, because i had to get some work done, and i uninstalled all four
of the updates that loaded last night. With your information I will go ahead
and reinstall the other three and be make sure everything still works before
I shut down for the night.

Thanks again.
