Uninstall your DVD from the Device Manager and then Reboot/Restart your
computer, window will detect it for you and install it, if you have the
driver for it then window will ask for it, select the driver select I have
desk and off you go for install from the CD.
If not try to download the driver from the DVD manufacturer for the same
specs for your DVD ROM and install it.

I have done that step several times by now. It just isnt working. I dont
have a cd drive that can be read. Every download I have went to get is an
upgrade. The original drivers just dont seem to be out there.

Hi Doug,
Try to locate this Clssid and delete:
DVD not reading the CD:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\*
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}*
To delete = *Clssid*
Please back up your registry first before doing any changes as always you
can revert back to it from a back up.
Reboot your machine and see if that will help and you get the windows to
detect the DVD and ask you to install.
HTH.
please write back.
