Drivers for a Mitsubish HDTV?

I sent an e-mail to Mitsubishi. The generic WinXP plug in and play monitor
driver for my Mitsubishi 65813 isn't quite sufficient. It doesn't allow my
TV to display at resolutions higher than 856 x 480 using my DVI to DVI
cable. The TV is capable of 1920 x 1080 but I'm not sure what the right
refresh/scan rate would be but Windows won't let it display at that setting.
I used the Sony GDM 900 drivers to allow it to display at a higher setting
but I couldn't figure out what the right refresh rate would be. I'm using
an ATI 9600 pro with the PowerStrip software and the 4.1 drivers. The key
would be to get a driver that works well with my TV. I've seen a lot of
interest in HTPCs these days and with Windows Media edition, I'm hoping MS
has some new drivers coming.

And why would they?! MS only has the drivers that the manufacturers provide
them. Why on earth would MS produce a driver for a Mitsubishi product?!

Since Mitsubishi say you shouldn't use this TV with a PC they are
unlikely to produce a driver.

You'll have to experiment to see what the TV accepts.

At 1920 x 1080 it probably expects 33.75kHz horizontal and 60Hz
Vertical.

Because they have provided drivers for other companies products in the
past - every use an HP printer?

Thanks for the tip. Considering it has a DVI in on it, I would think they
might consider you would use it with a PC.

Those drivers aren't written by Microsoft, they're written by the
manufacturer, and provided to Microsoft for distribution. So, if Mitsubishi
didn't write drivers, there aren't any. Unless there's a similar-enough
product with drivers that you could use.

I worked with a person who helped develop those drivers. HP makes fine
printers but couldn't get the drivers right.

Still, HP did write the drivers. However, if the printer is a couple years
old, the manufacturer is not interested in creating a complete enhanced
driver set. They would like us to replace our devices regularly.

DVI was to be a new standard of connecting video devices together. However,
it never caught on, outside of computer video cards.

Well computers are liable to produce a wide range of resolutions and
frequencies while the HDTV need only accept a certain groups of
resolutions and frequencies that match the various HDTV standards.

The Windows XP monitor driver structure is not versatile enough to make
a HDTV compliant monitor driver since you only get to specify ranges of
allowable H & V frequencies.

No, thankfully, I haven't. Those drivers weren't written by MS, they were
written by HP and supplied to MS for distribution. MS doesn't compile
drivers for anyone's products but its own.
