Hi

I've just purchased a laptop which has XP pre-installed, however I need W2K
for some of my applications. Is there a way of downgrading to W2K, normally
I'd put in the W2K CD and reboot and install it from boot up, but this
laptop only has USB CD ROM and Floppy so that possibiliy isn't an option.
When I put the W2K CD in while in XP it just tells me I've already got a
newer version and won't let me install it, can't run WINNT32 either.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Daniel

What makes you think so? Have you tried running them in XP? It's
possible that an application might run under 2000 and not XP, but
very unlikely.

Downgrading is not supported. The only to get Windows 2000 is to
clean install it.

Are you sure you need Win 2K? Have you checked the software manufactures web
sites for updated versions? There is so little difference in compatibility
between 2000 and XP it is hard to imagine you would need to install 2000. If
the problem deals with the fact your laptop came with XP Home and you need
the special networking features of Pro, then I would suggest you purchase
the Pro upgrade, if your time is valued around $100 an hour this will be a
bargain.

Thanks to everyone for getting back to me, unfortunately we do need W2K as
the VPN client we currently have doesn't support XP.
With regards to your recommendations, unfortunately the CD-ROM and Floppy
Drive are USB hence I can't boot in DOS and install from there.

Any other suggestions?
