double XP installation

I have managed to instal WindowsXP Professional twice???
on a small (10gb) hard drive partioned to 2x4.7gb. of
course, I cannot defrag as there is not space enough for
defrag to work.How do I remove one of the XP instals. Or
remove the partion without upsetting anything? Graham

Hi Graham,

To remove one of the installs, simply boot the one you want and delete the
system files for the other from Windows Explorer. Then start/run C:\boot.ini
and remove the line referencing that install from the [operating systems]
section.

As to the partition, to add it to the existing system partition would
require the use of third party partitioning software, as non-destructively
resizing and merging partitions cannot be done with the drive tools included
with Windows. You will still have two small partitions (and the resulting
lack of free space for defragging) otherwise.
