2000 with Service Pack2. "D" partion has nothig on it. I want to
install other version of Windos on it (Windows 98 or ME).

It is possible do to that without loosing data on the "C" partion?
How can I do that?
What do I need (system disk or whatever)?

Thank you in advence.

Hi Wesley,

It looks like I have 2 option:
1. with Win 2000
2. with Win NT

I realy don't know which is the best. So, any advice?

On the other hand if I want to install Win XP on partion "D" can I do
that or that new install will be over old Win Xp which is it already
in comp. Any advice on that?

Thank you.

GB,

First, I have never installed more than one OS at one time. On my first PC
I upgraded Windows 3.11 to Windows 95, gave that machine to my folks and
bought a machine with Windows 98. I am still using that machine upgraded to
Windows XP. ;-)

I don't understand exactly what you want to do. Folks that set up a
dual/multi boot usually do so because they want Windows 95, 98 or whatever
for a particular reason, like running old software.

I do not really see the point of installing Windows 2000 (NT 5.0), it is
very close to XP (NT 5.1). But maybe you have reasons.

The NT family: Windows NT 3.1, Windows NT 3.5, Windows NT 3.51, Windows NT
4.0, Windows 2000 (Professional and Server) - NT 5.0, Windows XP - NT 5.1,
Windows Server 2003 - NT 5.2. NT stands for New Technology. XP stands for
eXPerience.

Whatever reasons you have, you might be better off with Microsoft Virtual PC
2004. Virtual PC allows multiple operating systems to run concurrently on a
single machine.

Use Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 to run multiple operating systems at the same
time on the same physical computer. Switch between virtual machines with the
click of a button.

Virtual PC lets you create separate virtual machines on your Windows
desktop, each of which virtualizes the hardware of a complete physical
computer. Use virtual machines to run operating systems such as MS-DOS,
Windows, and OS/2. You can run multiple operating systems at once on a
single physical computer and switch between them as easily as switching
applications—instantly, with a mouse click.

Hi Wesley ,

I installed Virtual PC and it's working great. I put in this virtual
harddisk Win XP (the same XP which is in the "C" partition). The only
problem it is speed (it is somewhat slowly) but I can live with that.
Once the software (one that I want to run) is uploaded everything is
going well. Poor speed apear only at startup and shut down but I
belive that is from small memory.Anyway I am pleased with this
configuration Win XP and Virtual PC it's what I want. Where I can
find
more article's about this amazing software (anthing else than MS
website). I don't know yet how I can remove a virtual disk if I have
need to do that. I was so exited to run my application and I never
(yet :>) ) explore the entire capabilities of that PIECE of software.
Great job MS team (I think mr. Bill "earn" - even for a free soft -
corectly money).

P.S.

Thank you for Virtual PC link's - you are the MAN
