Domains and Workgroups - any integration provided?

Is there any integration at all provided in XPP/W2k between nodes in a
workgroup and nodes in a domain on the same Ethernet subnet? Will the "Entire
Network" browser allow a nodes in the domain to "see" nodes in the workgroup
(even if workgroup shares are unavailable), for example, or are nodes in the
workgroup completely invisible from nodes in the domain? Anyone know a good
book where the doamain/workgroup model is explained?

They can see each other, and, depending on permissions & security settings,
can access each other.

Yes.

(even if workgroup shares are unavailable),

Not sure what that means?
for
example, or are nodes in the workgroup completely invisible from
nodes in the domain?

No, they can be accessed, and even browsed if NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled
as it is by default.

A workgroup doesn't really exist as an entity. It's a name for a collection
of individual computers. There's no security in it whatsoever - all depends
on what's open/allowed in each member of the workgroup. Perhaps if you
explain what you're trying to allow, or trying to avoid, it would be easier
to give you an answer....I don't know of any book that deals with what it
sounds like you're looking for, offhand.

assuming you have one domain and one workgroup in the same subnet, and you
have correct TCP/IP and master browser settings, you should be able to see
both in My Network Places.

For information about the browser, which is how the nodes "see" each other:
