domain user login

I have a new network running a Windows 2000 Server and XP
Pro workstations. All seems o.k., except when I login on
a workstation as a different domain user, it seems to
take forever to get past the "applying settings" screen.
Then it seems o.k. until I change back. Is there a
setting I'm missing somewhere? Any ideas?
 
Is your DNS pointing the server hosting you AD namespace? Are you using
roaming profiles?
