Very slow login

Installed 4 brand new XPP workstations on a W2K server network(DC). All
identical computers with same set of apps installed. 2 of them act normal on
login to the domain. The other 2 take 15 min to login then speed seems
normal. If you logoff or shutdown/restart and back on--takes forever. If
you just lock the computer--OK.
Not real familiar with the server setup but don't think anything fancy.

Not sure what this has to do with 'server setup' - really - but okay.

Assuming you mean you installed (how?) four different physical Windows XP
Professional systems and joined each of them to the domain that you have
created with the Windows 2000 Server and you have no roaming profiles and
you are logging into the Windows XP machines with domain provided accounts -
then I would first remove the twop problem computers from the domain
(rebooting afterwards) and delete them from AD Users and Computers on the
server and then join one of them to the domain, reboot a couple of times and
then log on to the machine via a domain logon. Any better?

Check the preferred DNS server setting on the problem XP boxes and make
sure that it points to the domain controller.
