display system information on desktop

I am interested in learning how to display dynamic system
information such as computer name, user name, boot time,
os version, memory, ip, etc. on my desktop. I want to
know how to do this in a Win2K and 98 (if possible)
environment. Just curious. Thanks for any help.

BgInfo works on 95 and higher, and Windows NT 4.0 and higher:

Here is one possibility

Start, Run, and put MSINFO32 in the run box and hit enter.
