Display problem

I can't seem to change my display resolution to anything
above 800x680 and to anything more than 4 colours! have
checked the monitor etc drivers etc as recommended in the
help section but nothing seems to be working. Any ideas

Reboot into Safe Mode, open Device Manager, remove all instances of your
monitor and video card, reboot; Windows should find the hardware and
reinstall the drivers. If that doesn't work then you'll have to install the
latest drivers yourself.

What did you do when you checked the drivers as this is almost always a
driver issue. Did you remove and reinstall the drivers for your graphics
card? Did you check the graphics card manufacturer's website for the latest
XP drivers for your card?
