disk drives... next installment.

Hi again,
We have been playing disks, games etc that have been bought, in the DVD-Rom
Drive, since Feb when computer was purchased, with no problems at all. Now
we can only play the games in the DVD-writer drive and nothing seem to work
in the DVD-rom drive anymore, is there any apparent reason for this??
Thanks
Una.

You need to determine if the problem is with the dvd-rom drive. If you have
access to another computer with such a drive, test the disks that will not
work in your drive. If they then work, you might have a hardware issue and
need to replace the dvd-rom drive.

Have you made any changes, have you removed and reinstalled software,
perhaps the software used by the dvd, writer. Depending upon the software
such a procedure can disable a dvd-rom drive. We need more information.
Also, are these commercially purchased game disks or are they copies you
made on the dvd-writer?
